What Our Customers Say

I read this with my niece over the Christmas period after it was recommended on one of the review sites. From a 'grown-ups' perspective I found it really enjoyable. It is well written and there is plenty of humour as well. What I particularly like were the illustrations which really compliment the story. We will certainly be exploring the other books in this series!

Diane (Good Reads)

A delightful story with just enough fun to keep children entertained right to the end. Empowering for children who may feel that they do not fit in or are different to the others due to the strength-based perspective.
A quick and easy read with a hint of naughtiness. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading it to grandchildren.

Gail Nichols (Amazon)

Humorous and very much original this is one series you should add to your reading list, especially if you have young 'reluctant' readers at home. The Battle To Save Earth is written with wit and charm along with excellent illustrations.

Kim sent us the second Jonny Plumb to read and review and from the moment my daughter sat down with it, she was chuckling away. She enjoyed this one as much as the first and was lost in her own world reading this book. Here's her review:

This book carries on from the first Jonny Plumb book.
After coming home from his parents with some useful information about the Knud Repeek.
Jonny knows the Knud Repeek is after him.
What will he do and how will he survive??
Along the way, Jonny discovers that the golden globe can make a hologram of the pyramids and Legion and Legend(Giant dogs that talk)can
turn into the Sphinx.
My favourite character is still sloppy botty.
Read the book to find out more!!

If you are looking for genuine adventure and a magical read then I really think Jonny Plumb and the Golden Globe takes some beating. It's a great mix of storytelling for children and delicate illustrations that tell an original story with a host of very whacky and colourful characters. This is one of those books that really encourage a child's imagination. Loved it!

If you haven't met Jonny Plumb you really should!
I laughed and cried with Jonny and my young nephew and niece just adored him and all his wonderful friends!
Written with verve and obvious empathy by Kim Wheeler, who quite clearly still has the heart of a child.....
Thank goodness this is the first of a series - can't wait to read the next one!

Ally

Endearing and chock full of fun these Jonny Plumb books really are in a league of their own. I would love to get inside Kim Wheeler's mind because it must be an extraordinary place to be. Mind boggling adventures and plenty of out of this world characters bring this children’s adventure to life and leave you eager to read the next book.

Thank you, Kim Wheeler, for giving us Jonny Plumb. I have read all 6 of the Jonny Plumb book's, enjoyed them, put them away and forgot about them. Until I became ill and decided to get them out dust them off and read them again. Wow!!! So glad that I did. Reading about Jonny's adventures with his assortment of weird and wonderful friends, his loyal companions Legion and Legend soon cheered me up. The character names made me laugh out loud and each book seemed better than the last. Definitely 5 stars + from me. So come on Mr Wheeler we want more...

Amazon Customer

This series gets better with each book - they all provoke a variety of emotions but this latest one 'Jonny Plumb and the Battle for Earth' surpasses all that came before.
Jonny and all his family and friends are in greater danger than ever before - can they overcome the truly villainous Deadsheda and Dances with Death? Will they defeat the Outriders from Hell? Will they be able to foil the supremely evil intentions of Gnud Repeek who wishes to destroy Jonny and enable the devil to 'reign supreme over all mankind'?
The reader sees selfless heroism being taken to a new level in this book in an unlikely form and is also introduced to new, comic characters brilliantly created by the author. You will giggle a great deal - and probably be brought to tears...I definitely was.
Without a doubt this is my favourite book in the series - surely there must be another?! I can so easily imagine the Jonny Plumb series being brought to life on the big screen - an animated film just couldn't fail to capture the imagination of children of all ages, including the grown-up ones!
Congratulations Mr Wheeler - Please hurry up with Book 5 as we all need to know what happens next!

Ally

Jonny Plumb - what a wonderfully British name! Jonny is a young boy who finds himself on out of this world adventures. There are lots of books with similar themes but this series takes the edge for originality and all out adventure. This is how adventure stories should be written for young readers. Encouraging the imagination and the desire to explore

Avid reader

In the immortal words of Sir Ranulf himself this, Book 5 in the Jonny Plumb series, is "Absolutely bally brilliant".
Without a doubt, Kim Wheeler has surpassed himself - this is my favourite so far!
The lucky reader meets up again with favourite characters but is introduced to wonderful new ones too - you cannot help but love Sally ( the very gigantic lisping snake )!
Giggle helplessly over P. C. Floppy's very demanding telephone conversation and marvel over extreme bravery in various forms.
As always Kim writes with verve and an obvious empathy with children while ensuring much pathos in underlying themes we can all identify with. His writing, while making me giggle out loud, also provokes a tear or two - such is his ability to write for readers of all ages.
If you've enjoyed the first four books you will love this one!!

I’ve read every release in the series and always marvel at Kim Wheelers ability to write hugely entertaining and imaginative fiction. Although aimed at a younger readership there is no doubt that it has much broader appeal with some very tongue in cheek laughs to e had along the way. Through reading the books I have come to know a little bit about Kim and love the way he has worked his passion for rescuing dogs into the storyline of all his books. Legion and Legend are wonderful! I can imagine any child wanting friends like these two.

Like many other readers, I have followed the Jonny Plumb series from the start. They really are a delightful and humorous read for younger readers which are made even better by the delightful illustrations that accompany Kim’s words. Having read all the books to date I have a very vivid image of Jonny in my head and hope that one day some will realize the wonder to be had in turning the series into a film. With special effects, Jonny Legion and Legend would be awesome characters. Here’s hoping but in the interim, they are always much loved in our house.
