A short synopsis of Jonny Plumb.........
I originally wrote Jonny Plumb for adults to read to children, mainly because I wasn’t ever read stories to as a child and really missed the warm interactions between parent and child....
I envisaged the six books becoming films similar to the ones watched as a growing child usually on a Sunday afternoon.
Jonny Plumb adventures are spawned from my childish sense of adventure or if you prefer my childish sense of humour and awe at all things greater than me, which is much. I also wanted Jonny to be from space but not as we would normally know an alien to be, I wanted him to be super intelligent but also fragile and normal and he seems to question everything.
I also gave Jonny lifelong companions in the shape of two huge Rottweiler dogs called Legend and Legion, as he was still too shy to create any meaningful relationships with any other kids apart from one girl who was to become his girlfriend. Jonny, Legend and Legion are inseparable and their shared humour is a delight but at the same time there is a more serious meaningful reason for this close and protective friendship borne from my own experiences with two of my rescue dogs, Bigfoot and Little bear.
Humour was also really important, I have seen many children’s films over the years and the best ones to me are the ones with great humour, yes, it is tongue in cheek, but like I said, humour that the adult can understand and the child cannot and vise-verca.
There are six books in the incredible adventures with Jonny Plumb...
For children aged between 8 and 108..
